From Post-its to People: The Making of LYEONS Heart

Understanding Anxiety

Behind the scenes, LYEONS team has been diving into research and ongoing discussions—exploring how we can better support people with anxiety.

At the Cambridge Neuroscience event, experts came together to talk about the urgent need for better mental health support. It reaffirmed our belief in the importance of research, innovation, and patient-centred care.

“In 2019, 970 million people globally were living with a mental disorder—with anxiety and depression being the most common.”
– World Health Organization

Please stay with us as we will soon start sharing our key learnings to make further progress.

Building LYEONS (Lions) Heart and Community

Post-it notes, discussions, and late-night brainstorming sessions are guiding each step of our progress. We appreciate the journey won’t be easy—but it has been meaningful one, and something we’re deeply passionate about. Every morning, we wake up asking ourselves how we can support people better, and that question drives everything we do. 🙂

From post-it brainstorms to sketches, from 2D illustrations to 3D modelling and printing—we sand, assemble, adjust form and size. We experiment with different components, seeing which ones might be most effective for people. App development, support structures, and building a wider ecosystem have also become core to what we do: creating a safe, supportive space where people can talk with us, connect with us, and share your thoughts freely.

Minimum Viable Product

“A pattern I’ve noticed—I reach for the LYEONS Heart whenever I’m in a meeting. It feels comforting and reassuring, especially in high-stakes situations.”

When one of our user tester, Tina Lavithi, a postgraduate student from Imperial College London said this, it reminded us that this is exactly what we’ve been searching for. Something that quietly helps people feel more in control. Something that supports their day-to-day routines.

“I need this. Let me test it.”

On Friday, at Innovate Cambridge, we shared the LYEONS Heart project to one of the member. We often hear this request from people—they want to try the prototype. We’re still early in our journey, but during an advisory board meeting at St John’s Innovation Centre, we spoke about the importance of getting the product out there, even in its current form, to learn from real experiences. It reminded us: this is what MVP is all about.

So, we’re working hard on LYEONS Heart 1.0 to engage more people. We can’t wait to update you, to share what we’ve been developing, and to continue learning—together. We’re here to make a meaningful difference, and this is only the beginning.

Patient and Public Involvement

This week, we visited a research centre in Cambridge to discuss how we shape our upcoming studies. We spoke with research nurses about who may find the LYEONS Heart helpful, and those conversations opened up new directions and potential we hadn’t yet explored.

Their insight is helping us shape the next phase of our work—and we’re incredibly grateful for the people who are joining us on this journey. 🙂

We look forward to sharing our next journey with you, with more feedbacks and development! Next blog, we will share design process more in details. 🙂

One step at a time. 🙂

Love,

Team LYEONS
